Multispecies explores the theoretical context of multispecies studies, analyzing epistemological, political, and ethical aspects to understand various ways of life. The works evoke issues related to human violence, social justice, and their interconnections, provoking reflection on themes related to ecological humanities to investigate political ecology, non-human universes, and interactions between multiple species.
Multispecies confronts a reality where the limits of anthropocentric thinking are questioned and aims to highlight the possibilities of learning from complex natural systems, as well as to encourage a more fluid and open perspective on the surrounding world. The Multispecies exhibition offers the opportunity to disseminate artistic projects in various cities, emphasizing how eco-museum research and cultural initiatives can educate and mobilize the public to promote sustainability and ecological awareness. This initiative aims to spread ideas related to biodiversity and environmental awareness through artistic creation. The main goal is to valorize and diversify the local cultural heritage through collaborations with artists and organizations from the host cities of the events. The project was also presented in 2024 at the Museum of Art and Avramide House in Tulcea, and now continues in Sibiu as part of the Multispecies exhibition itinerary. Both Sibiu and Tulcea are recognized for their commitment to environmental conservation and the promotion of ecological values, thus becoming strategic centers for cultural and eco-museum initiatives.
Multispecies is part of the TOWARDS FUTURE project, co-financed by the Administration of the National Cultural Fund. TOWARDS FUTURE promotes cultural diversity and responsibility, combining cultural and environmental activities to mitigate climate change and increase public awareness and responsibility.
The project does not necessarily represent the position of the Administration of the National Cultural Fund. AFCN is not responsible for the content of the project or how the project results may be used. These are entirely the responsibility of the funding beneficiary.
