WASP Studios

WASP-Working Art Space and Production was open in September 2012 by Marius Gheorghe, cultural manager with experience in marketing and communication, and Andreea Capitanescu, cultural manager, choreographer, curator and producer. An industrial decommissioned hall, with an area of 500 m2, inside the Flaros factory, located in the Timpuri Noi area of Bucharest (center-south part of the city), was completely renovated and transformed into a modern production, education and research space made up of two studios (White Box and Black Box), a space dedicated to exhibitions, a Media Lab and a Lounge Area. The two studios are designed and equipped for shows and performances, installations, new media projects and film screenings.
The technical facilities of the space include stage lighting, audio and video system, projection screens of different sizes, dance floor, Buetec practicable and chairs. The studios have 90 m² (white box) and 200 m² (black box), the number of seats varies depending on the event and scene type for which they are chosen. The Media Lab is equipped with video and audio recording equipment for film and multimedia production and research, as well as publications and DVDs for individual study.

WASP offers optimal conditions for public conferences, private events, and art workshops (dance, theater and music), yoga classes, etc. with a total of 40 participants/BB studio, 20 participants/WB studio. The space is fitted with changing rooms and showers.

WASP Studios cooperates locally, nationally and internationally, develops strategic partnerships to support the production and promotion of contemporary arts, organizes and hosts residencies, workshops, debates, productions and presentations. Main activity directions includes contemporary dance and performance, cross-disciplinary collaborations in the field of visual arts, film, theater, music, multimedia, as well as opening to other areas of knowledge related to contemporary art.

eXplore Festival – Bucharest International Contemporary Performance Festival, X Platform, Visualizing the Sound, Life Long Burning, GROWASP, Foreign bodies, Creation Residences, are some of the most important events organized at WASP.
WASP – Working Art Space and Production hosts the offices of the two organizations that operate in its premises, the 4Culture Association and WASP Studios.
