Point Taken 3
Point Taken este un proiect interdisciplinar de film de dans inițiat de Dutch Cultural Media Fund și Performing Arts Fund Netherlands în colaborare cu canalul național NTR și Cinedans. Fiecare din cele cinci echipe de regizori și coregrafi olandezi au realizat un scurtmetraj de dans. Premiera acestor cinci filme a avut loc în cadrul Cinedans Dance on Screen 2013.
ONE MAN WITHOUT A CAUSE

Un om se simte ca un străin în propria viață, dar nu face nimic pentru a schimba situația. Filmul este inspirat din romanul Străinul de Albert Camus, în care personajul principal își dă seama de absurditatea vieții și trage concluzia corectă. Stilul lui Dierick se concentrează pe o abordare psihologică și narativă convingătoare și bine definită a personajelor multifațetate. Limbajul lui Greco și Scholten trimite la corpul uman non-psihologic, care capătă noi sensuri în lumea abstractă. Această relație contrapunctuală le fundamentează demersul.
EGON

Ultimele zile de viață ale pictorului austriac Egon Schiele (1890-1918) sunt marcate de gripa – făcându-le să pară jucate în afara unui cadru spațial și temporal. Portretele sale stilizate prind viață și îl împing mai departe către moarte. Coregraful a transformat imaginile într-un limbaj transparent de mișcare care ignoră muzica lui Alexander von Zemlinsky. Imagistica brut expresivă și conflictuală reflectă efectul puternic al desenelor și picturilor lui Schiele.

Un fenomen anormal are loc într-o livadă de măslini când unul din pomi începe brusc să-și scuture sălbatic crengile, provocând o răscoală. Pe măsură ce protestul natural se amplifică, actorii revoltei pătrund furtunos în peisaj, căutând să reprime rebeliunea. Filmul este inspirat din metode străvechi de recoltă a măslinilor, ce combinau cultivarea și agresiunea.
WHAT’S UNFOLDING

Acest dans al obiectelor, peisajelor și asocierilor interpune corturi mișcătoare și corpurile dansatorilor pentru a crea o coregrafie caleidoscopică, între abstract și intimitate. Reprezentarea rigidă face aluzie la evenimente politice și sociale curente, dar și la experiența umană comună. Peisajul geometric unic al Hondsbossche Seawall este gazda acestui carnaval de forme în schimbare continuă.

Un spațiu; două persoane: un bărbat și o femeie. Două conștiințe și două timpuri diferite se întrepătrund. În primul, o mamă și fiul său sunt conectați într-un joc afectuos. În al doilea, corpul ei merge se degradează și se retrage din cadru, mâinile lor alunecând una din cealaltă. Acest film explorează granițele dintre viață și moarte, corp și suflet, realitate și imaginație.
Point Taken is an interdisciplinary dance film project initiated by the Dutch Cultural Media Fund and the Per- forming Arts Fund NL in collaboration with the Dutch national broadcaster NTR and Cinedans. Each of the five teams of Netherlands-based filmmakers and choreographers created a short dance film. The premiere of these five films took place during Cinedans Dance on Screen 2013.

A man feels himself to be a stranger in his own life but does nothing to change it. The film was inspired by Albert Camus’ novel The Stranger in which the central character sees through the absurdity of life and draws the correct conclusion. Dierickx’s style focuses on a compelling, well-defined narrative and a psychological approach to multifaceted characters. Greco and Scholten’s dance idiom draws on the non-psychological human body, which acquires new meaning in an abstract world. This contrapuntal relationship underlies their joint film.

Symptoms of influenza mean the last days in the life of the Austrian painter Egon Schiele (1890-1918) seem to be played out beyond the confines of a set time and space. His stylised portraits come to live and edge him further towards death. Choreographer Stuart has transformed his images into a transparent movement language that by turns follows and ignores the music by Alexander von Zemlinsky. The rawly expressive and confrontational imagery reflects the powerful effect of Schiele’s drawings and paintings.

An abnormal phenomenon occurs in an olive grove when one of the trees suddenly starts wildly shaking its branches, provoking an uprising. As the natural protest heightens, the riot squad thunders through the landscape, seeking to suppress the rebellion. This film is inspired by ancient methods of olive harvesting, which combined cultivation and aggression.

This dance of objects, landscape and associations intermingles moving tents and dancers’ bodies to create a kaleidoscopic choreography hovering between abstraction and intimacy. The stark, graphic imagery this produces alludes to current social and political events, and our shared human experience. The uniquely textured, geometric landscape of the Hondsbossche Seawall plays host to this continuously shifting carnival of forms.

One space; two people: a man and woman. Two strands of consciousness and time become entwined. In the first, a mother and son are connected in a loving game. In the second, her body goes into decline and she is drawn off to the side, their hands slipping from one another’s. This film explores the boundaries between life and death, body and soul, and reality and imagination.
