Coaching Project | Dance Film cu Simona Deaconescu
Coregraful si regizorul Simona Deaconescu, a coordonat timp de o lună un laborator introductiv in bazele teoretice si practice ale filmului de dans. Atelierul face parte din initiativa D.I.M.A.P. (Directii inovatoare in multimedia si arta performativa), ca parte integrata a GROWASP, un program de formare profesionala in domeniul Artelor Performative Contemporane lansat de WASP in aceasta primavara. O parte dintre participanti au continuat seria intalnirilor cu Simona Deaconescu, fiind implicati intr-un coaching project intensiv organizat in cadrul proiectului ”Foreign Bodies”, care a avut ca rezultat 13 scurt metraje.
S-a vorbit despre corp si spatiu, relatia dintre miscarea aparatului de filmat si dans, estetica si directii artistice, perspectiva si unghiulatii. Am vizionat si analizat filme de dans sau adaptari pentru film ale unor spectacole, cautand sa intelegem granitele performative si specificul cinematografic. Am inteles si discutat diferentele dintre categoriile de filme de dans in speranta ca fiecare participant sa-si gaseasca propria directie. In timpul intalnirilor prelungite fiecare cursant a fost indrumat sa caute in el si despre el, subiecte care conteaza si il afecteaza, ganduri care-l urmaresc si emotii greu de exprimat prin cuvinte. Diversitatea experientei anterioare a grupului si-a pus amprenta asupra directiei de lucru, aducand in prim plan o atmosfera urbana, sensibilitate, fragilitate si atentia pentru detaliu si perspectiva. Cu un background in: dans, film, fotografie, arte plastice, actorie, stiinte sociale si comunicare, cursantii au gasit valori comune pe care le-au impartasit, s-au ajutat reciproc in timpul exercitiilor de filmare, au format echipe de creatie si de feedback. Ei au avut la dispozitie o bibliografie care a fost rasfoita cu interes, precum si o videoteca in care se regasesc filme de dans din circuitul festivalurilor de profil din ultimii ani.
Pentru a intelege mai bine fenomenul dance film, coregraful Simona Deaconescu a organizat in trei zile de duminica proiectii de filme de dans, co-prezentate de festivaluri de gen din lume: San Francisco Dance Film Festival [22 martie], Leeds International Screendance Competition [19 aprilie] si Pool Internationale TanzFilm Platfform Berlin [26 aprilie].
Rezultatul atelierului a fost prezentat sambata, 25 aprilie, ora 18.30, prin proiectarea unui making of, a unor materiale video realizate in timpul cursului si a unor exercitii de filmare realizate de cursanti in regie si coregrafie proprie. La final a avut loc o discutie libera intre public, coordonator si participanti.

Activitate organizata in cadrul Foreign Bodies, proiect finanțat printr-un Grant oferit de Norvegia, Islanda, Liechtenstein și Guvernul României, în cadrul programului pentru Promovarea diversității în cultură și artă în cadrul Patrimoniului Cultural European.Simona Deaconescu, choreographer and director, coordinated a one month laboratory introducing the practical and theoretical basis of dance film. The workshop is part of the I.D.M.P.A. (Innovatory Directions into Multimedia and Performing Arts ) initiative, being an integrated part of GROWASP, a program of professional formation in the field of Contemporary Performative Arts, launched by WASP this spring. Part of the participants continued the series of encounters with Simona Deaconescu, being involved in an intensive coaching project organized within the ”Foreign Bodies” project, which had as result 13 short dance films.
Body and space were discussed, also the relationship between the movement of the camera and dance, the aesthetics, the artistic directions, perspective and angles. We viewed and analyzed dance films or shows adapted to film, looking for understanding the performative borders and the specifics of cinematography. We understood and discussed the differences between dance film categories, hoping that each participant would find his own way. During the extended meetings, each participant was guided to look within himself and about himself, to find subjects that matter and affect him or her, thoughts that are following him and emotions that can be hardly expressed with words.
The diversity of the group’s previous experiences had influenced the work direction, bringing up an urban atmosphere, sensibility, fragility, and the attention for detail and perspective. Having a background in: dance, film, photography, fine arts, acting, social sciences, and communication, the participants found common values that they shared, they helped each other during the filming exercises, they formed creation and feedback teams. They have been offered a bibliography, that they read with interest and a video library holding dance films from the circuit of festivals in this field, of the last years.
For a better understanding of this phenomenon, the choreographer Simona Deaconescu organized three Sundays of dance film screenings co-presented by festivals of this field around the world: San Francisco Dance Film Festival [22nd of March], Leeds International Screendance Competition [19th of April] and Pool Internationale TanzFilm Platfform Berlin [26th of April].
The results of the workshop were presented Saturday, the 25th of April, at 18.30, screening a making of of some video materials realized during the workshop, and of some filming exercises realized choreographed and directed by the participants. In the end we had a free talk with the audience, the participants and the coordinator of the workshop.
