Solveig Thoroddsen își propune să creeze un dialog cu publicul larg pornind de la oferirea unor prăjituri gătite de ea și de la cuvântul preferat al fiecăruia, pe care Solveig îl scrie cu glazură de ciocolată pe prăjitura oferită cadou. A dărui ceva gustos oamenilor este o acțiune pozitivă, apreciată în majoritatea comunităților. Prin aceasta, Solveig își asumă simultan rolul de gazdă și de oaspete. Își dorește ca astfel să intre în contact cu un număr mare de oameni din subculturi diferite, încercând să înțeleagă mai bine procesul migrației și percepția publicului larg asupra imigranților și „corpurilor străine”. A crea și a dezvolta un dialog bazat pe înțelegere reciprocă este, din punctul ei de vedere, modalitatea adecvată de a dezvolta și a menține o bună societate.
Ideea este legată de lucrarea ei de dizertație „Sweet Bombs”, cu care a absolvit Academia de Arte din Islanda în această primăvară. Artista a copt prăjituri în formă de bombe în cafeneaua Galeriei de Artă din Reykjavik și a scris pe ele numele unor victime din bătălii și acțiuni teroriste recente. Acestea au fost oferite vizitatorilor, dând astfel naștere unor dialoguri interesante.
Solveig Thoroddsen este absolventă a Academiei de Arte din Islanda, având un masterat în arte vizuale. Este interesată de manifestări artistice capabile să atingă și să antreneze publicuri noi. Își propune să scoată arta din contextul rigid al muzeelor, galeriilor și sălilor de spectacol. Își dorește ca ceea ce creează să fie în afara cadrelor, direct și accesibil tuturor cetățenilor.
Prezența lui Solveig Thoroddsen în cadrul eXplore festival 2015 este susținută de Foreign Bodies, un proiect finanțat printr-un Grant oferit de Norvegia, Islanda, Liechtenstein și Guvernul României, în cadrul programului pentru Promovarea diversității în cultură și artă în cadrul Patrimoniului Cultural European.

Solveig Thoroddsen creates a dialogue with the general public starting from offering them homemade cookies and asking them about their personal favourite word which she writes with sugar glaze on the cookie. Giving a sweet and tasty food to people is a positive action, appreciated in most communities. Through it, Solveig assumes simultaneously the role of the guest and the host. She wants to communicate with a large number of people from different subcultures, aiming a better understanding of the process of migration and the perception of the public on immigrants and “foreign bodies”. Creating and developing a dialogue based on common understanding is, according to her belief, the appropiate way to create and maintain a good society.
The idea relates to her graduation work Sweet Bombs from the Icelandic Academy of Arts. The artist baked bomb shaped cookies in the Cafe Teria of the Art Gallery and wrote on them names of victims from recent battles and terrorism actions. These were offered to the guests and gave birth to interesting dialogues.
Solveig Thoroddsen graduated the Academy of Arts from Iceland with a master degree in visual arts. She is interested by artistic actions capable to touch and reach new audiences. She wants to take the art out of the rigid context of museums, galleries and stages. She wants her work to be unframed, forthright and accessible to ordinary citizens.
