Reprezentația spectacolului DON’T RECOGNIZE ME în București este sprijinită de NATIONALES PERFORMANCE NETZ (NPN) International Guest Performance Fund for Dance, finanțat de Comisarul Guvernului Federal pentru Cultură și Mass-media, în baza unei decizii luate de German Bundestag.
Inspirată din filmul de la Hollywood Imitation of life, regizat de Douglas Sirk, producția Hannei Hegenscheidt, Don’t recognize me, aprofundează genul melodramatic. În acest film postbelic, Sirk prezintă dintr-o perspectivă critică „stilul de viață american”. În stilul său regizoral ambiguu și controversat, Sirk prezintă relații dintre mame și fiice, prietenii dintre femei albe și de culoare, precum și tensiuni dintre bărbați și femei carieriste. Împreună cu 4 performeri, Hegenscheidt disecă sistemul semiotic al filmului, fragmentează scenariul oratoric și fizic, pe care-l reconfigurează, astfel că eposul fastuos din film se transformă pe scenă într-un experiment minimalist cu interacțiuni coregrafice despre relații și înțelesuri narative.
Hanna Hegenscheidt (concept și coregrafie) este coregraf liber profesionist și profesor de Klein Technique™. Înainte de a se muta în Berlin, în 2004, a studiat și lucrat ca dansatoare mulți ani în New York. Lucrările sale au avut apariții internaționale. În iunie 2014, a terminat masteratul de Coregrafie din cadrul Școlii de Teatru din Amsterdam.

Based on the Hollywood film Imitation of life by Douglas Sirk, Hanna Hegenscheidt’s new production Don’t recognize me explores the melodrama genre more fully. In this postwar movie Sirk takes a critical look at the „American way of life”. With his ambiguous and controversial directing style he depicts relationships between mothers and daughters, friendships between black and white women and tensions between men and career-oriented women.
Together with four performers Hegenscheidt dissects the semiotic system of the film, fragments the spoken and the physical script and reconfigures it. The glamorous on-screen epos turns into a minimalist on-stage experiment about relations and the interplay of choreography and narrational meaning.
Hanna Hegenscheidt (concept and choreography) is a freelance choreographer and teacher of Klein Technique™. She has studied and worked as a dancer for many years in New York before moving to Berlin in 2004. Her work has been presented internationally. In June 2014 she finished her Masters in Choreography at the Theaterschool of Amsterdam.
