Într-o țară cunoscută ca exportator al muncii domestică, a angaja ajutoare exotice crește capitalul simbolic al celor care dețin puterea.
Precum multe alte filipineze, Joy vine să lucreze în România nevoită să își susțină familia de acasă. Agenția intermediară o plasează ca bonă pentru cei doi copii ai unei familii bogate. Deși îi este dor de fiica ei, Joy se simte bine când muncește și își admiră angajatorii. Recunoscătoare că și-a găsit un post bun, ea își depășește uneori îndatoririle și gătește sau curăță în casă. Totul merge bine, până când într-o zi, tatăl familiei începe să o hărțuiască sexual. Când Joy se plânge angajatoarei, în loc să își confrunte soțul, aceasta îi face o propunere ciudată. Curând Joy își va da seama ca că a intrat într-o capcană domestică. Ceea ce a început ca o favoare acordată angajatorilor îi este acum pretins în mod imperativ. Treptat, Joy devine, sclava familiei.
Această poveste pornește de la un caz real. Adevărata Joy trăiește în București, România. Ea este interpretată de Ynia Lovelina care a trecut ea însăși prin repetate experiențe asemănătoare. Precum Joy, sute de alți filipinezi din România se luptă cu un sistem care nu recunoaște munca domestică. Și deși plătesc taxe, aceștia nu beneficiază de protecția statului român. Dar cum rămâne cu munca domestică în familiile obișnuite? În familiile care nu își pot permite să angajeze un lucrător imigrant?
Produse Domestice pornește de la experiențele femeilor imigrante pentru a dezvălui implicațiile muncii domestice plătite și neplătite. Produse Domestice vorbește despre adevăratul preț al muncii domestice. Produse Domestice instigă împotriva sexualizării muncii domestice!

Ioana Păun (n. 1984) este regizor. Operează pe subiecte legate de comportamentele turbo-capitalismului. All workers go to heaven (Theatre Royal Stratford East, Londra 2012), Economia Disperării (Muzeul Mexican din Chicago 2013), Indicele de Indignare (Letca Nouă și MNAC 2013) confruntă distopiile contemporane și imaginând situații posibile în care participanții ajung să co-existe pe o durată limitată. Ioana lucrează din 2012 la o platformă de vizibilitate a „industriei afecțiunii”, împreună cu artiste, jurnaliste, bone și menajere. De curând, Ioana face parte dintr-un colectiv internațional de artiști și programatori care dezvoltă forme de virusare a sistemelor de producție culturală, mutând atenția de pe creator pe utilizatori și subiect. În prezent Ioana este doctorand și cercetează posibilitatea democratizării artei și extinderea formelor participative în realitate.

Xandra Popescu lucrează ca artistă, scriitoare și realizatoare de film. A studiat Dramaturgia în cadrul Universității Naționale de Teatru și Film și are un background în Știite Politice. În munca ei adresează aspecte personale dintr-o perspectivă politică si poetică. A scris trei filme în regia artistului Șfefan Constantinescu: Cină în Familie, Șase pești mari și Viking Line Story, precum și alte piese și scenarii. La sfîrșitul lui 2012 a realizat filmul documentar Pink Saloon. Lucrează unori împreună cu artista Larisa Crunțeanu sub numele Soyons Impossible. Împreună coordonează activitatea Atelier35, un spațiu de proiecte din București dedicat extinderii limitelor artei contemporane. În prezent, lucrează și traiește în Berlin și București.

In a country that still exports domestic labour, hiring an exotic in-house helpers is becoming a status symbol.
Like many other Filipinos, Joy comes to work in Romania in order to support her family. The intermediating agency places her as a nanny for the two children of an affluent family. Although she misses her daughter, she enjoys her work admires her employers. Grateful to have found such a good spot she even goes beyond her duties and occasionally cooks and cleans. All goes well, until one day, the father of the family makes a move on her. When Joy complains to the wife, instead of confronting her husband, she comes up with an intriguing proposal. Soon, Joy finds herself trapped in a domestic cage. What started out as a favor is from now on demanded of her. Apart form her job as a nanny, Joy becomes their cook and cleaner.
This story is inspired by a real story. The real Joy lives in Bucharest, Romania. She is played by Ynia Lovelina, who herself went through numerous similar experiences. Like her, hundreds of Filipinos in Romanians struggle with a system which fails to acknowledge domestic work. And although they pay taxes, they do not benefit from the protection of the Romanian state. But how about domestic work in regular families? Families which cannot afford hiring a migrant worker?
Domestic Products builds on the experience of women migrant workers in order to reveal the further implications of paid and unpaid domestic work. Domestic Products speaks up about the price of domestic and reproductive labour. Domestic Products instigates against the sexualization of domestic work!

Ioana Păun (b. 1984) is a director. She works on subjects related to the behaviors of turbo-capitalism. All Workers Go To Heaven (Theatre Royal Stratford East, Londra 2012), Economia Disperării (The Mexican Museum in Chicago 2013), Indicele de Indignare (Letca Nouă and MNAC 2013) confront contemporary dystopias and imagine possible situations in which the participants end up co-existing for a limited period. Since 2012, Ioana has been working on a visibility platform for the “affection industry”, together with artists, journalists, nannies and housekeepers. Recently, Ioana joined an international collective of artists and programmers that develop ways of hijacking cultural production systems, shifting focus away from the creator onto users and subjects. Presently, Ioana is undertaking her PhD and researches the possibilities of art democratization and the extension of participative forms into reality.

Xandra Popescu works as an artist, writer and film maker. She studied Dramatic Writing at the National Theatre and Film University in Bucharest and has a a background in Political Science. Her work looks at personal issues from a political and poetic point of view. She has co-written three films together with Sfefan Constantinescu: Family Dinner and Six Big Fish as well as several other scripts and plays. At the end of 2012 she shot her first documentary film Pink Saloon. She sometimes works under the name Soyons Impossible together with artist and performer Larisa Crunțeanu. Together, they power Atelier35 – a project space in Bucharest, committed to expanding the boundaries of contemporary art. Currently, Xandra lives and works in Berlin and Bucharest.
