OPEN CALL – Creative Crossroads 

Part of the European cooperation project Life Long Burning (LLB) – Futures Lost and Found (2023-2026), supported by the Creative Europe programme of the European Union

4Culture Association announces an OPEN CALL for artists active in the contemporary dance scene and performance to apply for a 2-year support and development programme as part of the Creative Crossroads project Life Long Burning (LLB) – Futures Lost and Found.

The LLB project provides tailored support for artists who want to develop their contemporary dance work. Each participating network partner commits to support an artist/group of artists for 2 years and provides support to them through the network’s means.

Eligibility:

Participation is open to all artists, regardless of age, gender, nationality, working in the contemporary dance scene and performance who:

  • are emerging/mid-career artists who can demonstrate that receiving two years’ support would help them achieve a milestone in their career and long-term plans

  • have the availability over the 2-year period to participate in a series of network artist residencies/workshops and dedicated meetings. These activities will take place in different countries in Europe, to be determined over time through the network.

  • speak fluent English

  • are active on the Romanian art scene or are interested in developing personal projects in collaboration with it

How to apply:

In order to participate in the selection, applicants must provide the following documents:

  • CV, in English and Romanian (if applicable);

  • a presentation outlining how this participation would be a milestone in their career and influence their long-term plans (the presentation may include a proposal for a new creation, the development of a project already started, the initiation of new research or the continuation of a current process)

  • full portfolio / other material relevant to the application (A4 format, PDF, no more than 10 Mb; video work or documentation in AVI, WMV or QuickTime format up to 500 mb in total). Please provide a download link using free transfer services such as Dropbox.com or Wetransfer.com.

Funding:

  • residency opportunities with LLB network partners (at any stage of a project, not necessarily a production).

  • financial support during the 2-year cycle, which can be used freely as co-production, structural support or for other expenses related to artistic activities

  • international networking opportunity, including introductions to the team, project partners, international colleagues and artistic communities

  • ongoing ongoing consultation with the 4Culture Association for professional development support

  • access to the WASP Working Art Space and Production which can be used for performances or workshops aimed at artistic development

  • administrative and logistical support

The benefits and budget provided are the same for those applying as a duo or collective.

What is Life Long Burning?

LLB is a multi-year cooperation project implemented by 12 partner organisations. In addition to the dance WEB coordinator (AT), the partnership includes dance centres, festivals, choreographic networks as well as production spaces and associations. http://www.lifelongburning.eu/.

What are the objectives of the Creative Crossroads programme?

Creative Crossroads aims to: ensure stability over an extended period of time by sharing resources and tasks; improve the structural context of the selected artists/collectives; provide the opportunity to work in an international environment, thus expanding the network of artists and stimulating its development.
