The project aims to translate soundscapes into constantly changing visual landscapes and environments. The starting point is the observation that, while sound can directly transmit and create emotions in the brain, it is isolated from the other senses. Our project aims to give extra sensorial perception, by creating an immersive virtual realm which is attuned to the soundscapes which it accompanies. It aims for a more complex experience of sound and music.
The project is based on the idea of synesthesia, the transfer of sensations from one type of sensorial perception to another. The project focuses on understanding the way people with synesthesia perceive sound and in recreating such an experience for everyone. The visitors to the installation will experience sound as visual information, through these devices they will see 3d-animated shapes which are reactive and morph in real-time, based on the sound input they receive. The aim is to have different types of interactivity between the soundscapes and the 3d generated landscapes, which are meant to intensify the emotions felt by the visitor.
Augmented Space Agency members are explorers of digital frontiers, augmenting the human senses using the latest mobile technologies, overcoming the barriers between the physical and digital spaces. Focused on a mixed reality environment they are creating new types of experiences and products with a wide range of applicability.
The main focus is on the augmented and mixed reality mediums and related technologies. They are targeting the mobile platforms as the future driver of the new digital media. They are developing intricate software products in order to create a better dedicated content and mixed reality experience, maintaining an efficient and adaptive workflow.
